Shielded inductor

Stan Zurek, Shielded inductor, Encyclopedia Magnetica,

Shielded inductor - a type of inductor which is designed and constructed specifically to contain the magnetic field inside its enclosure, so that other nearby components are not affected.

Shielded inductors mounted on a PCB - the coil is surrounded by the ferrite enclosure shielded_inductors_magnetica.jpg
Non-shielded inductor - magnetic field closes through the surrounding air and can affect any nearby components
