Magnetic field of straight conductor:

  • Magnetic field near flat conductor resembles the shape of conductor, but its radial symmetry improves with distance: black rectangle - conductor, grey - circles for reference, black lines - magnetic field lines, other colours - magnetic field strength (from strongest orange to lowest light blue); at twice the distance of the conductor width the field varies less than 10% (as calculated by FEM simulation).
The results were generated with the software Finite Element Method Magnetics created by Dr David Meeker.
