For a simple gapped inductor, with a magnetic circuit with a uniform cross-sectional area throughout the whole magnetic path, the value of inductance *L* can be calculated from the following equation:

$$ L = \frac{μ_0 ⋅ N^2 ⋅ A}{ l_{gap} } $$ | (H) |

*Note: The equation is valid only for a simple magnetic circuit, with cross-sectional area of the core and gap being equal, and if l _{core} » l_{gap}, and µ_{core} » 1.*
